Happy May Day everyone. In Germany, that means everyone gets the day off and dances around the village's may pole while men try to climb to the top to impress the lady they're after. The trick to getting to the top is just to stay sober enough to do so. Traditionally, if a woman receives a small may pole outside her door on May Day it means someone has a crush on her. Unless it's wrapped in white streamers, in which case it just means someone wanted you to have a pole but they do not have a crush on you, so don't get the wrong idea, gosh lady.
In the states, Mayday means that you are in trouble and require immediate assistance. So Happy No-Mayday, America. Hope your day is trouble free and full of un-white-streamer may poles.
Umm....correction, IF you are homeschooled in the states May Day means you make paper vases and put flowers in them and leave them on your neighbors doorstep, and then you probably go off to a May Day celebration with other homeschoolers where you dance around a may pole and make wreathes of flowers for each other. Oh yeah, and laugh at all the other kids who were stuck in school. Although I suppose I should learn my multiplication table at some point....
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh out loud. Once a pilgrim, always a pilgrim..
