That Guy is a fox

My first sick day away from work has been a little more stressful than restful, but hopefully after 12:30 it will be on the ups. It's always interesting how much you take feeling healthy for granted until you feel really horrible.

I can't complain for this entire post though-- the better part of my last 3 days were spent at the happiest place on Earth. My friends Kristin and Katie were celebrating birthdays, so we headed down late Thursday night and logged 2-park-hopping-days-of-goodness at Disneyland and California Adventure. I can't remember the last time I did two days there.. but it was nice to not have the pressure of doing Tower of Terror 15 times in just one day.

Some notable highlights of our trip:

--The Alpine Inn.
Located a 10 minute walk away from the entrance to the park, the Alpine Inn is designed to put you in the Swiss Alps environment. Being in LA doesn't prevent this motel from having snow on its roof year-round, but it does prevent them from having white snow on its roof. Its website boasts of room amenities like a "mini-frig" and promises its "guestes" a "continental breakfast". I'm not sure when "continental breakfast" turned from meaning pancakes and eggs to a 4-inch pre-wrapped granola bar, but maybe I just missed the memo. We endeared ourselves quickly to the Alpine, however, and referred to it fondly throughout the day.

--Waiting in line.
...Which never happened. We walked on to nearly every ride. The longest wait time for any of them was 30 minutes. And that only happened a few times. Great time of the year to go!

--Disney's Christmas Day Parade.
When we first stepped into the park, there was a noticeable transitioning from holiday to holiday taking place. Behind us were the pumpkin shaped heads of Disney characters celebrating Halloween, and in front of us, on Main Street USA, was a Christmas shaped castle. Turns out they were actually filming the Christmas Day parade on the two days we would be there. It didn't take long for us to find out that Mario Lopez was on the grounds, and for our mission to become finding him. We made sure to get some good camera time to increase our chances of making national TV so look for us on Christmas Day on ABC!! (Seriously though. We're probably going to be on TV).

--The Wonderful World of Color.
Talk about magical. This show just about knocked my socks off. 35 minutes of nonstop Disney nostalgia performed with water jets, color lasers, LCD projectors, and music, all on the backdrop of the Mickey ferris wheel and the best roller-coaster ever. See for yourself! This was one of the more chaotic clips, but I thought the fire made it interesting. (And please excuse all of our: "Wowww"s. We were pretty delirious after 13 hours of walking.)

And of course, the photo evidence for some of this fun that I'm claiming to have had:

Spontaneous Newsies performance with Mickey.
Three people on a two person ride. We loved the new Cars land!!
Genuinely scared.
So purty at sunset
Main Street USA
Solo trip to the Lincoln show. Standard.
The ride that nobody rides
Happy November Fifth!
