Tonight my teacher duties have me at the 3+ hour Mock Trial meeting watching students audition for the roles of Attorney and Witness.
But my mind can't help but be elsewhere-- in a place called Downton.
Downton Abbey is a series on PBS based in early 20th century England about an aristocratic family whose problems predominantly focus on who will inherit the estate (Downton) since the 2 intended heirs were both killed in the sinking of the Titanic. Translation: Nerd Alert. I'm loving it! Where else can you hear Maggie Smith deliver witty but subtle history jokes?
"What in heaven's name am I sitting on??"
"It's a swivel chair... Thomas Jefferson invented it."
"Hmph. Why must everyday involve a fight with an American..."
In other news, my class has been doing a French Revolution simulation this week. Today we took the Tennis Court Oath on the school tennis courts. And stormed the Bastille by charging at the biggest building on campus. High five if history can be fun!
